On Thursday, October 17th, Lycée International Xavier (LIX), located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, embraced the Halloween spirit with a day filled with excitement, creativity, and community bonding. Organized by APELIX (Association of the Parents of the Students of LIX) and APEX (Association for the Promotion of Xavier’s Spirit), this special event highlighted the school’s vibrant sense of community while supporting a meaningful cause.

▶ About Lycée International Xavier
Lycée International Xavier is a French school located on the northern side of the Han River in Seoul’s Jongno-gu district. The school has been operating since March 2002 with the consent of the French ambassador and the authorization of Seoul’s Board of Education.

LIX is a Catholic institution founded by the *Communauté apostolique Saint François-Xavier* and is part of the *Centres Madeleine Daniélou (CMD)* network, which manages schools in France and other countries. The school offers a complete education program from preschool (MS/GS) to high school, adhering to the official curriculum of the French Ministry of Education.

LIX is affiliated with two significant international French school organizations: *Mission Laïque Française (MLF)* and the *Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Étranger (AEFE)*. The AEFE network consists of 550 schools in 160 countries. Classes from preschool to 6th grade at LIX are officially state-certified, ensuring the quality of education meets French standards while embracing the cultural diversity of its international setting.

▶ A Day of Festivities and Giving
This year’s Halloween celebration brought together students, parents, and staff in a joyful atmosphere of creativity and camaraderie. Around 250 participants took part in the festivities, which included vibrant costumes, themed decorations, and engaging activities.

Teachers and staff joined in the fun, dressing up in imaginative Halloween costumes that delighted students of all ages. The event also featured a meaningful charitable component, as participants contributed a KRW 3,000 donation to support the AFM-Telethon. This organization focuses on advancing research and providing assistance to patients with muscular dystrophy, demonstrating LIX’s commitment to fostering a spirit of giving.

A highlight of the day was the Halloween-themed photo booth organized by Grade 11 students. This activity showcased their creativity and hard work, as they transformed the booth into a spooky yet fun space filled with props and decorations. Students from all grades enjoyed taking memorable pictures, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.

▶ The Impact of the Event
Beyond the costumes and decorations, the Halloween celebration at LIX was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the school’s close-knit community. Students built new friendships, deepened their connections with teachers, and created lasting memories with their peers. The donation drive reinforced the importance of compassion and solidarity, reminding everyone of the value of helping those in need.

Events like this reflect the school’s dedication to its mission of combining academic excellence with the cultivation of strong moral and social values. By celebrating together, the LIX community continues to grow closer while embracing the broader goal of making a positive difference in the world.
